Dinamalar is a Tamil national newspaper. It was founded by T. V. Ramasubbaiyer in 1951. Dinamalar has an average circulation of 9,42,812 (ABC January-June 2016) Dinamalar is not aligned with any political party or religious organizations. He is known for his strictly conscious reports and without fear of exposing social defects and perpetrators.
History
Dinamalar was founded by T. V. Ramasubbaiyer on 6 September 1951 in Thiruvananthapuram. The operations were transferred to Tirunelveli in 1957. In Tirunelveli (1957), Tiruchi (1966), Chennai (1979), Madurai (1980), Erode (1984), Pondicherry (1991), Coimbatore 1993), Nagercoil 1996), Salem (2000).

The newspaper is printed in 10 cities of Tamilnadu, namely Chennai, Coimbatore, Erode, Madurai, Nagercoil, Pondicherry, Salem, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Vellore as well as Bangalore, Karnataka. As of 2016, the newspaper has a circulation of 9,42,812.
Controversies
In October 2009, Dinamalar published an article stating that several Tamil film actresses were involved in prostitution along with photos and names. The South Indian Artists' Film Association requested that the sub-sub-editor arrested and organized a demonstration condemning it. Lenin's deputy editor-in-chief was arrested. He was released the following day by protests from the Chennai Press Club, Union of Journalists of Madras, Press Trust of India and The Indian Newspaper Society. Dinamalar said that the news was obtained from ethical sources and there was no secondary agenda.
