Mountbatten Plan - 1947
*Lord Mountbatten was a member of the British royal family, arrived in India on 22nd March 1947 with a definite plan.
*The partition plan popularly known as Mount Batten plan was announced on 3rd June 1947. Mountbatten Plan is also known as June 3rd Plan.
*The All India Congress Committee accepted the Mountbatten plan on 15th’June 1947. Mountbatten proposeda plan to divide India.
*The works of the demarcation of the boundaries are done by Cyril Radcliff.
*Under the Indian Independence Act of 1947 two independent dominions known as India and pakistan to be set up on 15th August 1947.
*The first Governor General of independent India

*The Indian Independence Bill was introduced in the parliament on July 4th 1947 and Indian independence Act was enacted on July 18.
*The word ‘independent’ emphazised freedom from control of the British parliament.
*At the mid-night of 14-15thAugust 1947 Indian Independence-act came into force and the British rule came to an end.
