An Injection Pump is the device that pumps diesel (like fuel) into the cylinders of a diesel engine. Traditionally, the injection pump is driven indirectly from the crankshaft by gears, chains or a toothed belt (often the timing belt) which also drives the camshaft. It rotates at half the speed of the crankshaft in a conventional four-stroke diesel engine. Its timing is such that the fuel is injected only very slightly before the top dead center of the compression stroke of that cylinder. It is also common for the gasoline pump belt to be driven directly from the camshaft. In some systems the injection pressures can be as high as 200 MPa (30,000 PSI).
Due to the need for positive injection in a high pressure environment, the pump develops a high pressure, typically 15,000 psi (100 MPa) or more in newer systems. This is a good reason to be very careful when working on diesel systems; The escape of fuel in this type of pressure can easily penetrate the skin and clothing, and be injected into the tissues of the body with medical consequences severe enough to justify amputation.
In most cases, the injection pump is driven indirectly from the crankshaft by gears, chains or a toothed belt - often the timing belt - which also drives the camshaft. It rotates at half the speed of the crankshaft in a conventional 4-stroke engine.
The time is precisely adjusted according to the engine service model, so that the fuel injection pump enters the correct volume of diesel in the cylinder chamber only a fraction of a second before the cylinder reaches the point position Dead top of his compression stroke. This ensures that the fuel is only available from the fuel injector at the critical point in the cycle. At this point, the heat generated by very high compression in the piston causes the diesel fuel to ignite, generating power for the engine.
Because fuel injection pumps operate thousands of times a minute, ensuring reliability is a key challenge for any supplier and our own genuine pumps, backed by a 12-month warranty, have been engineered for the exact requirements of your engine .
Our fuel injection pumps are designed to the highest specification and ensure that we provide accurate calibration and fuel delivery. This in turn helps to optimize your combustion cycles, thus maximizing their power, efficiency and fuel consumption.
