The fusion of medical images is the process of combining two or more images acquired from same or different imaging modalities into a single image retaining important features from each. Automatic Fusion of anatomic (CT, MRI) with metabolic (PET, SPECT) scanning has improved the diagnostic accuracy of tumor imaging. Recent advances in imaging hardware and computer software have made this exciting technique significantly easier to adopt.
