Image inpainting is a technique of filling unknown image region with known information from the surroundings of the unknown region in such a way that the result is logically accepted. The texture and completeness of the structure in the painting method is the main challenge in painting images and remains an open problem that will be addressed in the near future. In this paper we propose a new painting algorithm based on morphological erosion and dilation. The erosion operation is used to reduce the unknown area and the expansion operation are used to take the information and texture of the surrounding area. The proposed method shows some promising results in the synthetic, texture and natural image.
Image Inpainting or Image Restore is a technique used to recover the damaged image and to fill the missing regions in the original image in a visually plausible way. Inpainting, the technique of modifying an image in an invisible form, is the art that has been used since the first year. Applications in this technique include rebuilding damaged pictures and movies, removing overlapping text, removing / replacing unwanted objects, red-eye correction, image coding. The main objective of Inpainting is to change the damaged region in an image. In this work we present a review of the different techniques used for the Inpainting image. We discuss different painting techniques, such as painting based on exemplary image, image based on PDE, painting of image based on texture synthesis, structural painting and structural painting.
