Any electricity supply in the world is to provide uninterrupted power supply at all times to all its consumers. Although in developing countries the electricity generated to meet the demands of electricity-consuming consumers is insufficient, hence the instability and disruption of electricity supply.
The instability or the cut of electricity in general does not promote the development in the public and private sector. Investors do not feel confident entering a country with constant or frequent power outages. These limit the development of industries. In addition, there are processes that can not be disrupted due to their importance, for example, surgical operation in hospitals, transfer of money between banks and much more. Energy and cut instability in developing countries (Nigeria) creates the need for alternative sources of energy for backup of the power grid.
Automatic switchers find a wide field of application where utility power reliability is low and is used in lighting / motor circuits whenever continuity of supply is required to switch to an alternative source of main supply and vice versa.
This project is an automatic switch design. This means that when there is a power failure, the auto switch will switch to an alternate power source (generator) and return to the main source when it is reset.
The purpose of this project is to maintain a constant supply to the main circuit that is supplied by compensation for the time span or the delay that usually accompanies the manual change from one source to another.
The design comprises the power connection circuit and the control connection circuit. The main components to use include; Contactors, relays and timer.
