The influence of the following process parameters on the roughness of the surface is examined: Preheating laser power, scan speed, beam deviation of the two laser beams, and Depth distribution of the preheating laser beam. The materials used for the experiments (martensitic tool steel and TiAl6V4) showed a different behavior: For the martensitic tool steel the micro roughness was increased compared to the conventional laser polishing with a single laser beam Martensite formation. For TiAl6V4, the meso roughness of the surfaces decreased compared to the conventional laser micro-photography due to the longer melt duration, resulting in smoother surfaces (up to 36% less surface roughness for a wavelength spatial regime ).
