The Kothagudem thermal power station is located in Paloncha in Telangana, India. The plant has an installed capacity of 1,720 MW with 11 units in operation. It is one of the coal-based power plants of Telangana Power Generation Corporation Limited (TSGENCO).
Background
The plant has an installed capacity of 1680 MW with 11 units in operation. It is one of six power plants in the Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO).
The plant has been divided into six stages. According to the India Central Electricity Authority, the last unit of the plant (U-11 of 500 MW) was "successfully commissioned (Full load)" on June 26, 2011.
