Electricity Rules of India:

1) Clipping at consumer's premises:
 The supplier shall provide a suitable cut-off on each conductor of each service line other than a grounded or grounded neutral conductor or the grounded external conductor of a concentric cable within the consumer's premises, in an accessible position . The cut-out must be contained within a properly enclosed fire-fighting receptacle.
 When more than one consumer is supplied through a common service line, each of these consumers will have an independent cut-off at the point of attachment to the common service
 Any power line other than ground or grounded neutral conductor of any system or grounded external conductor of a concentric cable shall be protected by proper trimming by its owner
 No switch, switch or switch other than an interconnected switch arranged to operate simultaneously on the grounded or grounded neutral conductor shall be inserted or remain inserted, or shall remain inserted in any neutral conductor grounded or grounded Of a two-wire system or any other A grounded or grounded neutral conductor of a multi-wire system or any conductor connected to it with the following exceptions: (a) A link for test purposes, or B) A switch for use in the control of a generator or transformer.
2) Hazard statements:
 The owner of all high, medium and high voltage installations will permanently place in a visible position a warning of danger in Hindi or English and the local language of the district, with a sign of skull and bones
 (a) All motor, generator, transformer and other electrical installations and equipment together with apparatus used to control or regulate it;
 (b) All high and extra high-voltage aerial supports that can be easily raised without the aid of ladders or special devices.
3) Cables:
 Flexible cables shall not be used for portable or transportable motors, generators, transformer rectifiers, electric drills, electric sprayers, welding sets or any portable or transportable apparatus unless they are heavily insulated and adequately protected against mechanical injury.
 When the protection is effected by means of a metal cover, the cover shall be in metallic connection with the frame of any apparatus and earth.
 The cables shall be of three types of core and four cores for portable and transportable devices operating in a single phase and three phases of supply respectively and the cable intended to be used for grounding shall be easily identifiable
 When the circuits A.C. And D.C. Are installed in the same support, they are arranged and protected so that they do not come in contact with each other when they are alive.
4) Security:
 Two or more gas masks shall be installed and maintained in accessible locations at each generating station with a capacity of 5 MW or more and a closed substation with a transformation capacity of 5 MVA or more for use in case of fire or smoke.
 Provide that when more than one generator with a capacity of 5 MW or more is installed in a power plant, each generator shall have at least two separate gas masks in an accessible and visible position.
5) high voltage equipment installations
 High voltage equipment will have the IR value stipulated in the corresponding Indian Standard.
 At a pressure of 1000 V applied between each conductor in voltage and earth for a period of one minute the insulation resistance of the HV installations must be at least 1 Mega ohm Medium and Low Voltage Installations- At a pressure of 500 V applied between each live conductor AND the ground for a period of one minute, the insulation resistance of the medium and low voltage installations shall be at least 1 Mega ohm
6) Every distribution board must comply with the following provisions, namely:
 There must be a free space of not less than 1 meter wide in front of the switchboard;
 If there is any accessory or bare connection at the rear of the switchboard, the space (if any) behind the switchboard should be less than 20 centimeters or more than 75 centimeters wide, measured from the widest part Of any accessory or driver;
 If the space behind the board exceeds 75 centimeters wide, there will be a passage from either end of the board to a height of 1.8 meters.
