WORKING PRINCIPAL:
These days rail way gate management system is very critical as lack of efficiency of personnel. In this particular system we use embedded controllers for controlling applications, it is designed to meet all the requirement of no human interference, which will have sensors on the railway track with few KM away (we can customize as per the requirement) as soon as the train passes sensor will send a signal to GATE CONTROL SYSTEM which will activate the gates for operation (close or open). Here we have to use RF transmitters for sending the sensed data to GATE CONTROL SYTEM and stepper motors for Gate operation.
RF based railway control system is having Transmitter and Receiver section. According to the conditions like train is coming or not is detected by the transmitter section using IR sensor module and the corresponding bit pattern is send by transmitter to receiver end. 33MHz Pulse width Modulated signals are sending by the transmitter to receiver. The RF signal which is send by the transmitter consists of 8-bit address and 4-bit data. The address is used for security purpose. The receiver which is having the same address can only decode the data. Using HT12E encoder the parallel address and the parallel data are encoded to Serial Pulse Width Modulated signal. The binary data 1’s and 0’s will be modulated by the encoder chip. Logic ‘0’ will have the double bit period of logic ‘1’.
The receiver end is having a receiver antenna. RF receiver module which is tuned to 433MHz connected with HT12d decoder chip. RF receiver module will receive RF signals and convert to serial digital data. Serial output of RF receiver module is connected to serial input of the decoder IC. While receiving the data decoder chip will compare the hardware address of the Rx model which is set by means of a DIP switches. If the hardware address of the Rx module and received address are matching, the decoder chip will decode the data and the data will be available at the data pins.16 different logic levels are possible with HT12E and HT12D.This data is received by the micro controller. According to the bit pattern micro controller will do the necessary controlling action. If Rx module is receiving the signals for “Train coming” micro controller will activate the stepper motor and it will output the pulse sequence for rotating the stepper motor 90 degree clockwise. Whenever train is passing through the railway gate micro controller will detect this condition with one more set of IR sensor module. Then controller will output the pulse sequence to rotate the stepper motor anti-clockwise for 90 degree to open the railway gate. Controller output current is very less; it cannot directly drive a stepper motor. So we are using 1 current amplifier circuitry (ULN2003 Chip), which is having internally Darlington pair configuration. For the user interface we are using LCD displays for both TX and RX end to display” page link “signals detected gate is closed.
The project consists of GPS receiver and GSM modem with a micro controller. The whole system is attached to the Train. So the GPS system will send the longitudinal and altitude values corresponding to the position of vehicle to GSM Modem.
The SMS sent would come through the GSM service provider and then reach the vehicle, which is traveling, because the vehicle has a GSM device with SIM card. This GSM modem will receive the SMS and send to the microcontroller in the vehicle. The microcontroller will receive this SMS and compare the password and the command. If every thing matches then it will perform the request required.
