ABSTRACT
This paper aims to develop and build the Food Waste Disposal Machine for the purpose of recycling food waste to make fertilizer at planting. In this project, we will use the power supply circuit and timer circuit and while we use mechanical part for several type of motor. The mechanical parts for several type of motor is motorcycle starter motor (Honda EX5) and power window motor. Some components also needed to complete this project are relay, limit switch, IR sensor (transmitter and receiver), ON/OFF switch, push button START and STOP. Use of various motor and conveyer are intended to make this machine works step by step in smoothly and safety to use. It aims to facilitate consumers in handling this machine. Selection of a garbage disposal unit should be based on quality and performance. Motors are relatively trouble-free, and unlikely to fail during a reasonable life-span. Metal parts in contact with waste and water (turntable, lugs, chamber, shredding ring) are very prone to corrosion, and last much longer if made of stainless steel or similar corrosion-resistant material rather than non-stainless steel, even if galvanized. The length of manufacturers' warranties gives some indication of quality, but units should last much longer than their warranty period. The size of the chamber and power of the motor (in horsepower or watts) determine the amount of waste processed per unit time. Soundproofing to reduce the noise of operation adds cost. Induction and commutator motors each have advantages and disadvantages. Feed can be continuous or batched. Some manufacturers use standard mountings for all their models, making it very easy to replace a unit by any model of the same brand. Many standard disposal units allow a dishwasher to be connected, and some more expensive dishwashers are equipped with a small built-in garbage disposal unit, making it unnecessary to scrape plates before washing them. Disposers used in conjunction with septic systems will add to the load of the system, and may cause more frequent septic pumping, or overflow of sewage. For septic system users special disposers are available that feature an enzyme-adding system claimed to aid in degradation of food waste while in the septic system.
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
This chapter will briefly explain about the project that has been done which consists of introduction, project objectives, problem statement and overview of the project.
1.1 INRODUCTION
Food waste disposal machine is a machine to recycle for the purpose of re-using waste food to serve as fertilizer. This machine was created for the purpose of applying for food waste that discarded are usually the cause of unpleasant odours area behind a restaurant, cafe and small and medium industry. This machine was created to attract the appropriate manual as housewife, restaurants, school, and cafe, and university, small and medium industry. This machine only needs 12 volt supply to run. Only by doing two steps, fill in and take. This machine was also created using the latest technology to form a more simple and flexible to facilitate the use of it for all age groups and levels and believed it safer to use. In at the same time it can prevent and reduce air pollution, odours and natural environment of flora and fauna. It can also save space and reduce landfill increasingly inadequate and increased in this period. The existence of this machine, we will no longer think in terms of budget and save for the steel plant which is usually a hobby to fill my spare time with farming regardless of age or older and younger men or women. The main mission of our product is simple, save and effective. The main objective of the creation of this product also seeks to be highlighted this product into the market because we believe this product although not as sophisticated products that have market at present, but it can help for the less fortunate.
1.2 PROJECT OBJECTIVES
When food waste is left scattered around the place this will cause the resulting virus will spread and cause many harmful diseases that can endanger health. With the cause of this entire machine can be avoided. It also provides comfort family users. WasteStar is an integrated disposal system that can be used in any large-scale kitchen. Meiko food waste treatment appliances are economic and comfortable disposal systems that convert problematic food waste that is difficult to dispose into a bio-waste, which can be easily handled and used as compost material. Its advantage is that all organic waste is directly loaded into a feeding station. So to overcome those problems, we as an engineer were created a machine we called “FOOD WASTE DISPOSAL MACHINE”. The main objectives for our machine is to make the kitchen place clean and to reduce the unpleasant smell. 1.3 PROBLEM STATEMENT
Every day millions of kilograms of food waste removed from food shops, cafes, school canteens and various other catering centres in the Malaysian. Some of it is recycled. Most of it winds up in landfills. These landfills are scars on our planet that won’t disappear for thousands of years. For example catering centre spends huge sums of money on food products that quite often wind up in the trash. That trash, in turn, feeds millions of cockroaches and rats that spread filth and disease. Catering centre should be able to get back they spend on food products to widen their profit margins and increase the catering centre survivability. Food Waste Disposal Machine will be giving a problem solution by grinding the food waste in the waste and food waste that has been in the ground will dry in the sun under the sun to dry for it to make fertilizer plants. The results can be used for yourself or for sale to farmers and this means that it can reduce and solve these problems and at the same time to increase the financial resources, reduce landfill space and increase national income.
