Acoustic pollution is disturbing noise with harmful effects on the activity of human or animal life. The worldwide source of noise is mainly caused by machinery and transportation systems, motor vehicle engines and trains. The outside noise is summed up by the ambient noise of the word. Poor urban planning can lead to noise pollution, adjacent to industrial and residential buildings can result in noise pollution in residential areas. The documented problems associated with the noise of the urban environment go back to ancient Rome. Road noise and other urban factors can be mitigated by urban planning and better road design.
Outside noise can be caused by machines, construction activities and musical performances, especially in some workplaces. Noise-induced hearing loss can be caused by external noise (eg trains) or inside (eg music). High noise levels may contribute to cardiovascular effects in humans and to a higher incidence of coronary heart disease. In animals, noise can increase the risk of death by altering detection and avoidance of predators or dams, interfering with reproduction and navigation, and contributing to permanent hearing loss.
