ABSTRACT
An embedded system is a special-purpose computer system designed to perform a dedicated Function. Since the system is dedicated to specific tasks, design engineers can optimize it, reducing the size and cost of the product. Embedded system comprises of both hardware and software. Embedded system is fast growing technology in various fields like industrial controller to do the specified task and the programming is done using assembly language programming .
The project titled “Electronic Tele Voting system” is a system which is disclosed and uses digital circuits to allow each of a number of voters to
(1) select one of a number of alternative answers to a question and
(2) express a selected degree of confidence in the selected answer, and then combines digitally the voter selections, and displays indications reflecting both the answer distribution and the degree of confidence of the voter group in the selected answers.
The main aim of the project is to calculate an error signal if the number of votes exceeds the number of voters or if there is a circuit failure, and an error condition if an attempt is made to tally the votes before all voters have voted.
This system mainly depicts the aspects of wireless communication where, transfer of information or data over long distance without using enhanced electrical wires or conductors .GPS units, wireless computer keyboard, mouse and headsets, cordless phones and satellite television are other examples of wireless technology.
With the help of wireless communication, Electronic televoting is implemented through co axial techniques,TLIC, PIC microcontroller,DTMF decoder and rs-232 cable /serial ports.
INTRODUCTION
ETV system is capable of saving considerable printing stationery and transport of large volumes of electoral material. It is easy to transport, store, and maintain. It completely rules out the chance of invalid votes. Its use results in reduction of polling time, resulting in fewer problems in electoral preparations, law and order, candidates' expenditure, etc. and easy and accurate counting without any mischief at the counting centre. It is also eco friendly. Thus to reduce mischief at the counting centre during polling time it is established using a PIC Microcontroller.PIC Microcontroller is used to store as well as erase data quickly than that of 8051 microcontroller. It is reliable ,easy to use,compact in size and cost is less than 8051 which is more time consuming and a small amount of data can be fed into a 8051 micro controller.
1.1 Hardware:
ETV system mainly consists of an amplifer,DTMF decoder,TLIC circuit, PIC 16F877A microcontroller , rs-232 cable /serial ports respectively.The EVM is connected through co axial cables.
1.2 Implementation of hardware :
An electrical voting machine is disclosed which uses digital circuits to allow each of a number of voters to
i) select one of a number of alternative answers to a question and
ii) express a selected degree of confidence in the selected answer, and then combines digitally the voter selections, and displays indications reflecting both the answer distribution and the degree of confidence of the voter group in the selected answers. Additionally, the machine calculates and displays: the total number of voters, a downcount of the number of voters as their votes are tallied, a weighted mean of the answer curve, an error signal if the number of votes exceeds the number of voters or if there is a circuit failure, and an error condition if an attempt is made totally the votes before all voters have voted .

1.3 Hardware specifications:
1.3.1 Co axial cables :
Coaxial cable, or coax, is an electrical cable with an inner conductor surrounded by a flexible, tubular insulating layer, surrounded by a tubular conducting shield. The term coaxial comes from the inner conductor and the outer shield sharing the same geometric axis
Coaxial cable is used as a transmission line for radio frequency signals
, in applications such as connecting radio transmitters and receivers with their antennas, computer network (Internet) connections, and distributing cable television signals.
One advantage of coax over other types of radio transmission line is that in an ideal coaxial cable the electromagnetic field carrying the signal exist
only in the space between the inner and outer conductors. This allows coaxial cable runs to be installed next tometal objects such as gutters without the power losses that occur in other types of transmission lines,and provides protection of the signal from external electromagnetic interference which is needed for it to function efficientlyCoaxial cable differs from other shielded cable used for carrying lower frequency signals such as audio signals, in that the dimensions of the cable are controlled to give a precise, constant conductor spacing as a radio frequency transmission line.
