Wdm technology

It was first published in 1970.and by 1978 being realized in laboratory.

This term typically described it,s WAVELENGTH

In fibre optical communication wdm is a tech.which multiplex a number of optical carrier signals on to a single optical fibre by using different wavelengths(colour).


What is wdm

Data from each tdm channel is loaded on one optical frequency(wavelength)

These wavelengths are then multiplexed onto one fibre with the help of wave divison multiplexers

ON the other side of network,these wavelengths are demultiplexed by using optical filters or wave divison demultiplexers.


WDWM TECHNOLOGY

DWDM is a optical technology which is used to increase the bandwidth over existing fibre optic backbones .

It work by combinin g & transmitting multiple signals simulteneously at different wavelength on the same fibre.

We would increase the carrying capacity of that fibre from 2.5GB/SEC.to 20GB/SEC.

A key advantage of DWDM is that it,s protocall & bit rate independent.
