A weld defect is any defect that compromises the usefulness of a weld. There are a variety of weld defects. Welding imperfections are classified according to ISO 6520, while their acceptable limits are specified in ISO 5817 and ISO 10042.
Aluminum welds often pose more problems than when working with steel since aluminum is a better heat conductor and a lower melting point. This combination exposes projects of welding of aluminum to problems such as burn and deformation.
In addition, unlike steel that can be soldered by a technique of drag or thrust, with the aluminum the gun can only be dragged (also called reverse technique).
The mold defect can be classified as follows:- Filling the related defect
- Defect related to form
- Thermal defect
- Defect by appearance
