Introduction:

This project is aimed at developing an application for controlling and maintaining the activities at a Departmental store and is used to cater the need of the sales system. This is an online system that maintains, controls the stock details and performs online billing and generates various online reports. Also, it stores the details of the products according to their sales. This is one integrated system that contains both the user component and the admin component.

Current scenario:

In the present day, the stores use barcodes for the products they sell which help out during the billing. Each product is to be scanned in order to enter details of the product that has been moved in and moved out of the inventory. The Barcode of each item has to be scanned individually.

Problems with Current Scenario:
• There are huge queues at the billing counters in hypermarkets due to the clumsy process of billing.
• Manual procedure’s are to be followed to keep track of slow-moving and fast-moving products.
• Barcodes cannot be scanned if the barcode is tampered.
• Barcodes require line of sight whereas, RFID don’t require line of sight

Proposed solution:

To overcome the situations stated above, we propose a solution with the usage of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags. These tags are used to transfer data from a tag attached to an object, for the purposes of automatic identification and tracking and billing. Some tags require no battery and are powered by the radio waves used to read them.
We provide a single scan billing i.e. the RFID scanner can scan any number of RFID tags in a single scan. This helps us to bill the products purchased in a shorter period.
These RFID tags can also be used to keep track on the number of products being sold and brought-in. This solution saves time and lessens the work to be done manually.

Conclusion:

To put in a nutshell, this application will provide faster generation of bills, avoids huge queues near the counters and also helps in generating various reports pertaining to the store in order to increase its sales and profits.
