DESIGN OF MONITORING SYSTEM FOR COAL MINE/ OPEN MINE SAFETY BASED ON WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORK
OBJECTIVE:
The foremost critical task for coal mine is of keeping track of miners spread out across a large mining areas.
Many mines use a radio system to track miners, but when a collapse occurs, the base stations connected by a thin wire often are rendered useless.
In this project to overcome the demerits of radio system we used wireless technology for tracking the miners.
A small RF transmitter module is equipped to each person entering a mine.
The transceivers communicate with base stations through zigbee module inorder to look after the miners. In addition we also include sensors to intimate the base station & miners when some atmosphere changes occur.
Mine operators are now able to monitor the real-time locations of each miner to better pinpoint their locations in the event of an emergency.
MODEL REPRESENTATION:
Existing system:
Miners accident often happened.
weak safety and legal consciousness.
Efficiency of rescue was low, and the effect was worse.
Improper information communication between the ground personnel and the underground.
DEMERITS:
MANUAL MONITORING-loss of employees due to time delay. Production was reduced.
WIRED MONITORING- needs large cabling and it is more expensive.
RF MONITORING-long distance is not applicable for monitoring.
Proposed System:
Established an underground safety monitoring system with integrality.
Effective alert system when dangers happen.
Enhance search and rescue efficiency.
Manage the harm-gas concentration.
Access control for the works passing in and out laneway.
Enhance the mining production management level and the work safety level of the mine.
HARDWARE & SOFTWARE COMPONENTS:
Microcontroller
Temperature sensor
Gas sensor
Pressure sensor
RF module
Zigbee module
MERITS:
High safety system and performance.
Effective alert system.
Reducing accidents and saving life.
Easiest way to monitor and control system.
Efficiency of rescue was high.
Applications:
coal mining personnel and vehicle safety monitoring system.
Information conveying systems.
Substation monitoring system.
Conclusion:
Advent of RFID technology in the coal mining management, and established an underground safety monitoring system with integrality, real-time and flexibility, which could automatically alarm when dangers happened and enhanced the search and rescue efficiency
