CENTRALISED SECURITY MONITORING
Information
• The idea of the project is to build a centralized security monitoring architecture that can be deployed in an organization, societies, etc.
• The system comprises of a server connected to several clients.
• Each client is located at a place where monitoring is to be done. The clients are connected with a hardware board for device control as well as webcam for video feedback of the place.
• All the clients are connected to a central server where a single administrator / security guard can monitor entire premises.
• The server graphically displays the map of the premises along with current sensor values and video feed. This makes it easier for the attendant to know the area where intrusion occurs or an alarm is activated.
• Physical parameters of the area like temperature, fire outbreak, etc. can be monitoring using the hardware board connected to all the clients. These parameter values are sent to the centralized server at regular short intervals.
• The administrator decides the threshold values for all such sensors, on crossing of which the alarms are activated.
• The centralized system is authenticated and only guards with appropriate user id’s can log in.
• A database (log) of activities is maintained for every single action that occurs in the system.
• Hence detailed log of which guard attended to a security breach is always maintained. This data log can only be accessed by system administrator.
• Client machines are quipped with motion detection logic. I.e. only in case there is some motion occurring in front of the camera, the system will store video/image of the camera feed. This ensures that there is no unnecessary space wasted in storage of couple of hours-long video feeds.
• The communication between client and servers can either be wireless (Wireless LAN) or wired.
