Lung cancer appears to be the common cause of death among people around the world. Early detection of lung cancer can increase the chances of survival among people. The overall 5-year survival rate for lung cancer patients increases from 14 to 49% if the disease is detected early. Although computed tomography (CT) may be more efficient than radiography. However, the problem seemed to merge due to the time constraint in detecting the presence of lung cancer in regard to the various diagnostic methods used. Therefore, a lung cancer screening system using image processing is used to classify lung cancer present in a CT-imaging. In this study, MATLAB have been used through all the procedures performed. In the processes of image processing, processes such as image preprocessing, segmentation and feature extraction have been discussed in detail. We are trying to get more accurate results using various techniques of improvement and segmentation.
