Introduction of Biometrics Passport
- Biometric passport is a traditional passport coupled with biometric technology in order to create an identification document that is more secure and that provides for remote scanning and tracking.
- Biometric passport is also known as e-passport(RFID passport).
- An e-passport is a passport that contain the data in electronic form on a RFID chip with including Biometric Features.
Technologies used in Biometric Passport
- Contactless smart card
- Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
- Digital image in JPEG or JPEG2000 Format
- EEPROM Memory of 32KB.
- Biometrics used (facial recognition, fingerprint recognition, and iris recognition).
- Application Protocol Data Unit (APDU)
