INTRODUCTION ABOUT ORGANISATION

Equipment which effects interconnection of telephones is known as switching equipment.
The switching centre, which houses the terminating and switching equipment is called telephone exchange.

GSM : (SYSTEM ARCHITECHTURE)
This system structured hierarchically as shown:
It consist of one administrative region, which is assigned to a MSC(Mobile Switching Center).
Each administrative Region is made up of atleast one Location Area(LA). LA is also called the visited area.
An LA consists of several cell groups.
Each cell group is assigned to a base station controller(BSC).
Cells of one BSC may belong to different LA’s.

. PREAMBLE
1.1 For and on behalf of CMD, BSNL, New Delhi, the General Manager, BSNL, Thanjavur invites sealed Tenders with Wax / PVC tape sealing who are having at least one year experience in BSNL for Providing Man power assistance on works contract basis to BSNL Staff for U/G cable joint maintenance works in Thanjavur SSA for the year 2011-12. The works have to be carried out in exchange areas under the jurisdiction of General Manager BSNL, Thanjavur SSA for the year 2011-12.
2. SCOPE OF WORK
2.1 Thanjavur SSA is divided into the following two (2) Zones for the purpose of cable joint maintenance works. The tender is valid for one year from the date of signing the agreement.

2.2 The Tenderers submitting bid for the work should have sufficient Man powers on hand and should be able to deploy them to assist the cable jointers / TMs immediately on daily basis to all unit officers i.e JTO/SDE concerned. No tools will be supplied by the BSNL for excavating of pits and reinstatement. The unit officers will supply materials like Cables and Jointing Kits required for cable Jointing/Mtce., work. Supply of all consumable materials for the purpose of cable joint like cotton waste, kerosene, sleeve etc is the responsibility of the unit officer concerned. Cable tent is also to be constructed if required at the contractor’s own cost.
3. How to get the Tender form / schedule
3.1 Separate Tender schedule are to be obtained for each zone and submitted zone-wise. The cost of tender form is Rs 520/- inclusive of tax and is non–refundable. The amount is to be paid at the cash counter of the office of the General Manager, BSNL, Balaji Nagar Complex, Thanjavur -7 between 1000 hrs and 1300hrs on all working days. Tender forms containing details along with schedule can be obtained from Asst. General Manager(CFA), O/o General Manager, BSNL, Balaji Nagar Complex, Thanjavur -7 on production of receipt towards the payment of the cost of the tender document between 10.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs on all working days. The tender cost can be paid by means of crossed DD/Banker’s cheque also issued by any scheduled bank in favour of Accounts officer [Cash], BSNL, Thanjvaur payable at Thanjavur. If Tender document downloaded from BSNL website, the cost of tender document should be paid by crossed DD issued by any scheduled bank payable at Thanjavur at the along with the tender document at the time of submission. The bidder shall bear all costs associated with preparation and submission of the bid. BSNL in no case shall be responsible for these costs regardless of the conduct or outcome of the bidding process.
