Typical middle-income households spend Rs300 to Rs500 per month on electricity - 800 to 1000 kilowatt-hours (kWh). Most homes could save between 20 and 30% of this easily if we can use efficient equipment and even more we can save if we can use outdoor sunlight for lightening. In this project we have planned to develop an automatic shutter control system in accordance with outdoor sunlight to save electricity. Whenever there is sunlight outside, the blinds open to use that light avoiding the need for electric lights. The opening angle of the blinds is proportional to the intensity of the sunlight. To control the blinds we plan to use The stepper motor and the intensity of sunlight is detected using the light dependent resistor connected to the ADC chip of the micro-controller. Take the sensor input, decide the angle of the blind opening and activate the motor step by step with the motor driver. Taking into account the extensive technical and document support and the integrated peripherals in the chip available, the micro-controller of high current source and sink is chosen. Due to a shorter development time, easier debugging and easier understanding compared to the assembly language, the Firmware (software for Embedded Systems) is developed in Embedded.
