The driver's drowsiness is an important, though elusive, cause of traffic accidents. Scientific support for the feasibility of this concept of countermeasure is provided by research showing that:
Sleepy drivers typically do not "drop" instantly. Instead, there is a preceding period of measurable performance decrease with associated psychological psychological signs. Drowsiness can be detected with reasonable accuracy using driving behavior. Measures such as the "drift and shake" direction and fluctuations in the side rail of the vehicle. The use of direct psychophysiological monitoring of the discrete conductor (for example, the closure of the eye) could potentially significantly increase the detection of drowsiness. The use of secondary / subsidiary auditory tasks (for example, auditory recognition tasks presented to the driver by recorded voice) could further improve detection accuracy.
The drowsiness detection system of the driver intended for the vehicle would continuously and discreetly monitor the driver's performance (and "micro-performance", such as minute direction movements) and the physiological psychological state of the driver (in particular the closing of the eyes). Warning signal when drowsiness is detected with high certainty or, alternatively, to present a secondary verbal task through recorded voice as a second stage of the driver's state test in situations of possible drowsiness. The key requirements and R & D challenges for a successful countermeasure include a low cost countermeasure, true discretion, an acceptably low false alarm rate, non-disruption of the primary driving task, compatibility and synergy with others IVHS countermeasures and a warning strategy that actually holds the waking state of the driver or convinces him to stop to rest. The IR transmitter is used to transmit the infrared rays in our eye. The IR receiver is used to receive the reflected infrared rays of the eye. If the eye is closed it means that the output of the IR receiver is high, otherwise the output of the IR receiver is low. This is to know that the eye is closing or opening the position. This output is to give the logic circuit to indicate the alarm. This project involves the control of accidents due to unconscious through blinking of the eyes. Here an eye blink sensor is fixed on the vehicle where if someone consciously loses and indicates through the alarm.
