 This circuit may provide a visual indication of the air flow rate. It can also be used to check for airflow in a given space. The filament of an incandescent light bulb is the detection part of the circuit. When there is no air flow, the filament resistance will be low. When there is air flow, the resistance decreases because the moving air will remove some of the heat generated in the filament. These variations in resistance will cause voltage variation across the filament. These variations will be picked up by the opamp (LM339) and the brightness of the LED on its output will vary proportionally to the airflow.
