Just as Y2K problems arise from programs not allocating enough digits to the year, Y2K38 problems arise from programs not allocating enough bits to internal time.Unix internal time is commonly stored in a data structure using a long int containing the number of seconds since 1970. Introduction:
Sign out from yahoo messenger or Gmail talk. Open your System Date and Time Settings. Change the year to anything beyond 2038. You can try setting the year to 2040. Now try logging in to either of the messenger. It does not log in and gives you some error.Surprised?
