This paper presents a new measure of heart rate variability (HRV) that can be estimated using Doppler ultrasound techniques and is robust to variations in the angle of incidence of the ultrasound beam and the measurement noise. This measure employs the multiple signal characterization (MUSIC) algorithm which is a high-resolution method for estimating the frequencies of sinusoidal signals embedded in white noise from short-duration measurements. In order to prevent thrombogenesis in the artifical heart, a prototype ultrasound thrombolysis system is developed.
Thrombus formation in artificial hearts remains a key risk factor in the death of patients. So, the system is assumed to work continously, dissolving micro thrombi before they can grow.
The purpose of this study is to develop the system that can be mounted in the artificial heart.

Abstract

In foam extrusion, material density is the most significant factor affecting the product cost and therefore the profitability of the manufacturing process. A reduction in the density of extruded parts reduces the raw material cost and therefore increases its profitability.
