A fast multilevel multipole (FMM) algorithm is derived for the Helmholtz equation and adopted to the symmetric Galerkin boundary element method (BEM) for acoustics. When reference signal for the FxLMS algorithm is taken from an acoustic sensor convergence can be very slow due to great eigen value spread.
