STATCOM-controlled HVDC Power Transmission for Large
Offshore Wind Farms: Engineering Issues
Abstract –
The paper considers a solution for integration of
large offshore DFIG-based wind farms with a common collection
bus controlled by a STATCOM into the main onshore grid
using line-commutated HVDC connection. A design procedure
is described and the controlled system is validated using
PSCAD/EMTDC simulations confirming high performance of
the proposed control strategy in both normal operation conditions

In This paper investigates the impact of a STATCOM operating in a phase imbalanced mode on damping sub synchronous resonance in series capacitive compensated transmission grid. Phase imbalance has the potential of reducing the energy exchange between the electrical and mechanical sides of turbine-generator and, therefore, damps the sub synchronous oscillations resulting from series capacitive compensation.

Abstract
In this paper, the mathematical model of
STATCOM based on space vector theory is presented. The
voltage equations are transformed into the synchronous rotating
reference frame (dq-axis). The relationship between STATCOM
parameters and stability, transient and steady state
performances are determined. Stability investigation with Routh-
Hurwitz criterion indicates that the STATCOM is a stable
system and the numerical values of resistors, inductors and
capacitors in the STATCOM equivalent circuit have no effect on

Hi,
I'm doing a project on Power quality improvement in transmission line using D-statcom.

This paper presents the enhancement of voltage sags,
harmonic distortion and low power factor using Distribution
Static Compensator (D-STATCOM) with LCL Passive Filter in
distribution system. The model is based on the Voltage Source
Converter (VSC) principle. The D-STATCOM injects a current
into the system to mitigate the voltage sags.LCL Passive Filter
was then added to D-STATCOM to improve harmonic distortion
and low power factor.

Introduction to Pulse Width Modulation (PWM)
In this technique several pulses are produced in each half – cycle but the width of the pulses
is not the same as in case of multiple – pulse width modulation, however the width of each pulse is
varied in accordance with the amplitude of the sine wave reference voltage. The width of the pulse
