This paper presents a new measure of heart rate variability (HRV) that can be estimated using Doppler ultrasound techniques and is robust to variations in the angle of incidence of the ultrasound beam and the measurement noise. Thrombus formation in artificial hearts remains a key risk factor in the death of patients. So, the system is assumed to work continously, dissolving micro thrombi before they can grow.
The purpose of this study is to develop the system that can be mounted in the artificial heart.
