Abstract:
Many parameters affect the quality of the resistance spot welding (RSW) process. It is not easy to obtain optimal parameters of the RSW process in the automobile industry. Conventionally, the Taguchi method has been widely used in engineering; however, with this method the desired results can only be obtained with the use of very discrete control factors, thus leading to uncertainty about the real optimum. Abstract :

The case study project is significant since mild steel is used in structure, case hardening, gears, free cutting steels, shafting, forging etc. Mild steel plates were tested for mechanical properties like hardness, tensile strength, yield point etc. Later on the plates were joined by submerged arc welding and the mechanical properties were estimated again. Also weld ability, harden ability, tensile test etc. were conducted for the same result. ....etc
