The advent of membranes makes the wastewater treatment easier nowadays. Activated sludge process (ASP) , which is the oldest technique in wastewater treatment , is combined with highly efficient membrane filtration to start a sophisticated technique called Membrane Bioreactor (MBR).It is an efficient process for maintaining a long solids retention time(SRT) at a relatively short hydraulic retention time(HRT),which is needed for the treatment of waste water. The article presents the reports the performance of municipal waste-water treatment plant using laterite soil-based constructed soil filter (CSF) system. The plant was monitored over a period of 17 months and the result is presented. The dissolved oxygen levels were increased along with the chemical oxygen demand (COD). The bio-chemical oxygen demand (BOD) reduced was significantly reduced. The features of the system are:
