SYNOPSIS

Non- destructive estimation of particle size of finished products is essentially required to judge their suitability for intended applications. For this estimation, a ceramic heating element (SiC rod) of a heat Treatment furnace at 1400 Degree celcius has been chosen. The particle size has been estimated with the proposed method based on counting reflection spots in a back reflection X-Ray pattern. Concrete is an indispensable construction material of modern age. The properties of concrete are greatly dependant on the constituents, workmanship, water-cement ratio, compaction, curing etc. Direct assessment of the strength of concrete is not possible because direct tests induces destructive stresses and causes failure of the structure. The study of micro cracks in concrete is very important to understand its behavior under loading and to improve this material. The direct observation in a scanning microscope is not a suitable method because the concrete is subject to drying shrinkage. Another indirect and non destructive method of observation by SEM is proposed. With this method using a single replica the micro cracks of concrete can be observed better than 0.5 µm. ....etc

Abstract
Destructive and non-destructive methods have been used for the determination of micro-traces of antimony in high-purity silicon powder. The destructive method was based on sub-stoichiometric radio-activation analysis with solvent extraction using BPHA and cupferron as organic reagents. The antimony contents in high-purity silicon can be determined by the proposed method.
