The stratified charge engine is a type of internal-combustion engine, similar in some ways to the Diesel cycle, but running on normal gasoline. The name refers to the layering of fuel/air mixture, the charge inside the cylinder.

In a traditional Otto cycle engine the fuel and air are mixed outside the cylinder and are drawn into it during the intake stroke. MPFI ( multi point fuel injection system ) Vs CRDI(Common rail direct injection system)

MPFI : mean multi point fuel injection system ie. in petrol engine for gaining more uniform Air Fuel blending fuel is injected at various point in the path of air. this tech is used in light weight car running on petrol. there is also milage improvement due to this.
