The Hydro Electric Power Plant consists of various equipments. Among these the governor is considered as backbone of the hydro electric power plant. The basic function of the governor is to maintain the constant turbine speed under all working conditions. The governor is highly helpful while considering the normal and grid failure conditions.

AN INTRODUCTION TO A GOVERNOR
Once a diesel engine is running, the engine speed is monitored and controlled through a governor. The governor ensures that the engine speed stays high enough to idle at the right speed and that the engine speed will not rise too high when full power is demanded.
