Efforts to develop rotary internal combustion engines have been undertaken in
the past, and are continuing.reduction of inertial loads and better dynamic balance is the main advantage of the rotary kind of engines. A very much successful model was the The Wankel rotary engine but the disadvantage of the sealing problems led to the decline of the engine.
The ball piston engine
The ball pistons rolling on an eccentric track is the basis of the design concept. tangential force is exerted by the balls on the cylinder walls which in turn turns the rotor. the rotor output shaft gives out the useful power. The spinning rotor itself contains the combustion chamber. The intake, compression, power, and exhaust strokes requires chamber porting and it is done by allowing the passage of the chamber tops across an internal stator.
Design Features
Many design features of the engine make it ideal for supporting high efficiency and emissions control. The porting that is required for the four stroke engine operation is done in a way which involves no valve train losses or additional moving parts.
