road pollution alert system based on Lagrangian wall model
Road traffic remains a major source of air pollutants despite the improvements in fuel and engine technology. The major exhaust gases that contribute to the polution are oxides of nitrogen, CO, particulate matter, and volatile organic compounds. The exposure to traffic-related air pollution and the traffic-related air pollution causes a lot of adverse effects. a proposed road pollution modeling-and-alert system is described in this article. The device can be used by the authorities for detecting the air quality in the places where there is suspect of deteriorated air quality. real-time traffic data from the intelligent transportatrion systems and other related sources are used by this system. The driving mode of the vehicle and the characteristics of the road segment is used by the a power-based model for the calculation of emissions. Finally, a Lagrangian wall model (LWM) is used to simulate the dispersion of the pollutanta from the different sources. This project thus integrates the advantages of a power-based motor vehicle emissions model with the LWM dispersion, as well as chemical transformation capabilities . Using this the capacity to minimize population exposure to the harmful effects of polution from the particlular areas of interest in the road. The model is also simulated with the data from the California Department of Transportation Highway 99 tracer dispersion.
