Introduction
It is a free-space display developed by IO2 Technology

A projector is focused onto a layer of mist in mid-air, resulting in a two-dimensional display that appears to float.

The image may be more realistic than on a projection screen.

Can work as a free-space touchscreen when connected to a PC.

The mist is formed by a series of metal plates

It was invented by Chad Dyner , who built it as a five-inch prototype in his apartment.
Typical parameter

Contrast Ratio

Contrast ratio

Defined as the ratio of the luminance of the brightest color (white) to that of the darkest color (black) that the system is capable of producing.

static contrast ratio (for motionless picture)

dynamic contrast ratio (for motion picture)

The ratio of the luminosity of the brightest and the darkest color the system is capable of producing simultaneously at any instant of time is called static contrast ratio

The ratio of the luminosity of the brightest and the darkest color the system is capable of producing over time is called dynamic contrast ratio

MODELS

Different models are;
M1

M2

M3 and M30

M50 and M100

M 1
M 2
M 3
Helio display

IO2 Technology.
Projects 2dimensional image to appear as 3-dimensional.
Interactive Cursor Control
Connected through almost all video cables.
It does not need any additional hardware .
An image projected onto the space in the desk from a laptop.

Closer view

Inferior in image definition when compared with CRT and LCD.

Overview
Design is focused onto the mist and particle suspension that occurs naturally in air.
Uses water for proper working.
Little dark room accelerates the working.
Uses a powerful light source.

Colour rendering is high.

Gesture recognition in 3D space .

Working

Transforms water into a unique screen of fine vapour.

Some waviness to the screen stability.

Requires a standard power outlet and a video source.

The images are best seen within 70 degrees to either side.

Uses no additives or chemicals.
The screen is safe for human interaction.

M2 Heliodisplay Preview
Second-generation Heliodisplay.
Screen area 87% larger than M1.
1024 x 1024 resolution.
An optical tracking system is used to detect finger or hand movements.
Cannot use in bright sunlight.

M3 Heliodisplay Preview

Expanding into a wider application.
M3's screen system is updated from the previous model.
Uses improved tri-flow system.
1024 x 768 native display resolution.
Quieter operation.
Application

teleconferencing, board room displays , computer input device for cursor control.

FOGSCREEN

Physically penetrable particle display.

Uses a large non-turbulent airflow to produce a fog.

Dual-sided Projection and Interaction

FogScreen’s opacity depends on fog density, projector and image brightness, and background of the viewing area.
Dualsided display enables more 3 dimensional view.

Dual sided display
Next generation displays
Sega Hologram

Fog Screen

Heliodisplay

True 3D

Sega Hologram
Mostly used for gaming
Fog Screen
Projects the image on to the fog.
Heliodisplay
Displays the image on to a virtual screen.
True 3D
Uses of lasers is needed which fires to intersect each other.
Dangerous way of getting 3D.
Advantages of heliodisplay
Does not need any screen to project the image or video.
Has virtual touch screen control.

Smaller than a typical PC.

Doesn't need any special cables.
Hardware upgrade is also available.

Maximum resolution of 1280x1024 pixels.
Projects visible, high-quality images in normal office lighting conditions.

No chemicals are used for projection.
No damage to human by human interaction.

Applications
Advertising and Promotion.
Collaborative Decision Making.

Simulation & Training.
Consumer products.

Conclusion

Helio display,
the next generation display.
