Nano-Nuclear Batteries
The world of tomorrow that science fiction dreams of and technology manifests might be a very small one. small batteries are required to provide power to them. nano-scale nuclear power devices are a viable alternative. There are two parts to every nuclear battery:
a radioisotope source
a system that converts radiation from radioactive decay to power
betavoltaics and self-reciprocating cantilevers are the two common schemes of conversion. The formal definition of betavoltaic conversion can be :
the betavoltaic effect is the generation of electrical potential due to net positive charge flow of the betaparticle induced electron hole pairs (EHPs).
As the EHPs diffuse into the depletion region of the pn junction, the depletion region electric field sweeps them across it.
