Radial engine is an intrinsic type of internal combustion engine configuration in which the cylinders "radiate" out of a central crankcase, like a wheel spokes. It looks like a stylish star from the front, and in some languages it is called "Star Engines" (German Stormmotor, French Mötür N etoil, Japanese Hoshigata Engine, Italian Mötter Tarlar). Prior to becoming a gas turbine engine head, radial configuration was commonly used for aircraft engines.
