Amar Ujala is a Hindi newspaper published in India. It has 19 issues in seven states and a union territory that covers 167 districts. It has a circulation of around two million copies. The Survey of Indian Readers of 2013 reported that, at 5,510 million, it ranked 12th among Indian students. Amar Ujala was founded in Agra in 1948. In 1994, Dainik Jagran and Amar Ujala shared nearly 70 percent of the newspaper in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Amar Ujala sold 4.5 lakh copies through its five editions. Bookmark and Share In 2015, the newspaper's general director, Rajul Maheshwari, announced that he was entering the "rural events and activation" market, saying that "It is not just a newspaper, it is also an agent of change". The intention is to hold short events in several cities that join the local rural economy with agricultural service companies and larger government agencies.
