Judicial Review
*Judicial Review is the power of the Supreme Court and High Courts to examine the laws passed by the Legislatures are in accordance with the provisions of the constitution or not.
*The courts can strike down the law, if it is ultra vires (beyond the power). Article 13 of the constitution deals with Judicial Review.
*India adopted the idea of judicial review from the USA.
*The Supreme Court can review any judgement or order made by it, with a view to remove any mistake or error that might have crept into the judgement or order.
*Supreme Court is known as the court of Record (Article 129).
*All disputes relating to the election of the President and Vice President are decided by the Supreme Court.
