The Gorakhpur train station, in the northeast, is located in the city of Gorakhpur, in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It serves as the seat of the northeastern railroad. The station offers facilities of the class A train station. On October 6, 2013, Gorakhpur became the longest railway platform in the world, after the inauguration of the remodeled Gorakhpur Yard, with a section of approximately 1.34. kilometers (0.84 miles). The Gorakhpur city area is served by 10 local train stations in addition to Gorakhpur Junction, namely Gorakhpur cantt, Domingarh, Sahjanwa, Sihapar, Maniram, Nakaha jungle, Kushmi, Jagatbela and Unaula.
The 135-mile (217 km) Gonda loop, which runs between Gorakhpur and Gonda, was built by the Bengal and North Western railways between 1886 and 1905. The 79-mile (127 km) Kaptanganj-Siwan metro line was inaugurated in 1913. The Nautanwa branch of 25 miles (40 km) of track width was inaugurated in 1925.
The conversion to wide gauge began with the Gorakhpur-Siwan section in 1981. The Gorakhpur-Paniyahwa section became in 1991. The Gorakhpur-Gonda circuit became around 1985 and the Nautanwa line about the same time. The Kaptanganj-Siwan line became in 2006. Now Gorakhpur would have three new platforms. At present, Gorakhpur has the longest platform in the world.
