Today, safety is the main problem in many fields due to thefts, fires and explosions due to the leakage of LPG gas. At present, LPG gas can be used in the car, in the storage tank or in the service station. However, due to some reasons why LPG gas can escape from the gas cylinders, this can cause the cylinder to burst, damage the house and the risk of a life for the people living in the house. Fire can ignite due to many reasons, such as an electric short, oil lamps or candles stored inside the house. Sometimes, fire accidents are very small, but if proper measures are not taken to control the fire, they can spread completely. To overcome this problem, an LPG gas sensor is used to detect the presence of a dangerous LPG gas leak in several places.
LPG Gas Sensor
An LPG gas sensor is a type of device used to detect the presence of a dangerous LPG gas leak in the service station, cars, storage tanks and homes. This sensor is connected to an alarm circuit to alert operators through a hum in the area where the gas leak occurs. The LPG gas sensor is also used to detect smoke from cigarettes, toxic gases, fuels, propane, isobutane and LNG.
Arduino Microcontroller based LPG Leak Detector Circuit
An LPG gas is a versatile fuel used in homes, but the leakage of LPG gas could cause a disaster. To be aware of the LPG gas leak and avoid any error, there are different products to notice the leak. Here we have designed an LPG detector circuit based on an Arduino microcontroller. Each time a LPG gas leak occurs, this system detects and emits an alert through the buzzer that is connected to the circuit. The whole system is easy to design and has some basic knowledge of electronics and programming.
The proposed system uses a LPG gas sensor to detect LPG gas when a LPG gas leak occurs. We have used a LPG gas sensor module to detect LPG gas. When a LPG gas leak occurs, it gives a HIGH pulse on its D0 pin and Arduino always reads its DO pin. When the Arduino board receives a HIGH pulse from a gas sensor, it displays a message LCD and activates the buzzer to generate a beep. When a LPG gas sensor gives a LOW pulse to the Arduino board, then the display shows the message "no gas leak".
The basic electronic components required to design a LPG leak detector circuit based on microcontroller mainly include Arduino Pro Mini, LPG gas sensor module, buzzer, BC 547 transistor, 16 × 2 LCD, 1K resistor, bread panel, battery of 9 volts and connection cables.
