Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, formerly Andhra Pradesh University of Health Sciences, is a public university in the city of Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India. It bears the name of its founder, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N.T. Rama Rao. The university was established as a University of Health Sciences by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and was inaugurated on April 9 by N. T. Rama Rao, the then Chief Minister of State. It commenced operation on November 1, 1986. Following the death of Rama Rao, the Government of Andhra Pradesh issued a directive to change the name of the university "Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences", held on 2 February 1998. The university celebrated its silver jubilee from 1 to 3 November 2011.
There is a library and a computer center where the library network operates. A guest house is available with different categories of accommodation for faculty, examiners and visitors. The examination section is located in a separate area where special security electronically controls access, which can only be obtained by authorized personnel and security officers. An electronic assistance system based on biometric data was also institutionally implemented.
