The empowerment of women has become an important topic of discussion in development and economics. It may also point to approaches to other trivialized genres in a particular political or social context. Women's economic empowerment refers to the ability of women to enjoy their rights to control and benefit from resources, assets, income and their own time, as well as the ability to manage risk and improve their economic status and well-being. a broader concept of gender empowerment refers to people of any gender, emphasizing the distinction between biological sex and gender as a role. Therefore, it also refers to other marginalised genres in a particular political or social context.
With the slogan of women's empowerment, the question arises that "women are really strong" and "the long-term struggle is over." Many programs have been implemented and administered by the government such as International Women's Day, Mother's Day, etc., in order to sensitise society about the true rights and the value of women in the development of nation. Women need to progress in the number of spheres. There is a high level of gender inequality in India where women are mistreated by their relatives and strangers. The percentage of illiterate population in India is mostly covered by women. The true meaning of women's empowerment is to make them well educated and to leave them free so that they can be able to make their own decisions in any field.
Women in India are always subjected to honour killings and never gave their basic rights to proper education and freedom. They are the victims who face violence and abuse in the country dominated by men. According to the National Mission for the Empowerment of Women (NMEW) launched by the Government of India, this step has seen some improvement in the 2011 census. The proportion of women and female literacy has increased. According to the Global Gender Gap Index, India needs to take some advanced steps to improve the position of women in society through appropriate health, higher education and economic participation. The empowerment of women needs to take all the speed in the right direction rather than being at a nascent stage.
