Resistive touch screen

A resistive touch screen comprises several layers, of which flexible layers of plastic and glass are two important resistive electrical layers. The front surface of the resistive touch screen panel is a scratch-resistant plastic coated with a conductive material (mainly indium tin oxide, ITO), printed bottom.

The second important layer is glass or hard plastic and is also coated with ITO.

Both layers face each other and separate with a fine separation between them. An electrical resistance is created between the two layers in such a way that the load is executed from top to bottom in one layer and from side to side in another layer.

When a fingertip or punch presses down on the outer surface, both ITO films meet. It is the measurement of the resistance of both layers at the point of contact, which leads to an accurate measurement of the tactile position. Accuracy also depends on the uniformity of the ITO coating on both layers.

Advantages of [b]Resistive  touchscreen[/b]

• Low cost of production

• High resistance to dust and water

• Best used with a finger, gloved hand or stylus

• More suitable for handwriting recognition

Disadvantages of Resistive Touchscreen

• Not too sensitive, you have to push harder

• Poor contrast due to extra reflections of the extra layer of material placed on the screen

• Not compatible with multi-touch
