Pallivasal is a village in the Idukki district in the Indian state of Kerala. The first hydroelectric project in Kerala was established in Pallivasal during the reign of Maharajah Sree Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma. The Pallivasal electric project was commissioned in 1940. The Kerala electricity transmission system also emerged in 1940 with the 66 kV line from Pallivasal to Thiruvananthapuram, and eight substations were also commissioned in 1940.As of the 2001 census India, Pallivasal had a population of 11,759 with 5965 males and 5794 females.
