Project management is the discipline of starting, planning, executing, controlling and closing a team's work to achieve specific objectives and meet specific criteria of success. A project is a time effort designed to produce a unique product, service or result with a defined principle and purpose (usually time constrained, often constrained by funding or deliverable) undertaken to achieve unique goals and objectives, typically to achieve A beneficial change or added value. The temporary nature of the projects contrasts with the usual operations (or operations), which are repetitive, permanent or semi-permanent activities to produce products or services. In practice, managing these different production approaches requires the development of different technical skills and management strategies.
The main challenge of project management is to achieve all project objectives within the limitations given. This information is usually described in the project documentation, created at the beginning of the development process. The main constraints are scope, time, quality and budget. The secondary challenge - and more ambitious - is to optimize the allocation of necessary inputs and apply them to meet predefined objectives.
