The difference between the PLC and the CNC can also be seen through its application. CNC is especially the particular application that has its role for the control of multiple axes that is offered in machine equipment. Modern CNC machines however are much more advanced and have full-fledged PCs that allow all kinds of user interaction. They can be networked throug ethernet, RS232, accept compact flash cards, USB etc drives.
Personally, I do not see much difference between CN machines and CNC machines, except in their capacity. CNC machines accept programs in the form of G codes which are instructions that provide the direction and speed of the tool path. Many modern CNCs allow high-level programming of complex parts at the machine's own interface.
