Hospital management professionals, also known as health service management, usually have the job title of hospital administrator or hospital administrator. They usually coordinate and direct the delivery of health services in a hospital system. Managers can run entire hospitals or be in charge of specific departments or branches. Starting a career in hospital management typically requires a bachelor's degree in minimum, although managers often have advanced degrees.
Training in hospital management opens up a number of career options. Smaller hospitals may have only a few managers working in multiple administrative areas. A manager can also run the entire administrative system of the hospital.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the jobs of health and medical service managers should increase by 17% between 2014 and 2024. The BLS predicts that professionals with advanced training and administrative experience can find many opportunities for employment and advancement.
